About Me

Veenea Kamalam Pascual Nair better known as Veenea is a 21 year old, charming, sweet lass with a powerful voice.

She was born and raised in Brunei Darussalam on the 7th July 1998 to parents Lennie Pascual Nair and Shanan Nair, a Filipino and a Malaysian Indian.  Veenea grew up in a musical family along with her elder brother Shaneel Ruthran.

Veenea started singing at the tender age of three.  Her father’s excellent taste in music and the enchanting voice of her mother influenced her love for music. Her Mom was her very first music teacher.

Music was in the air, life was so happy and colourful when one day it turned blue, Veenea was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the age of four. She endured 110 weeks of painful treatment. A big challenge for Veenea barely knowing the world and experiencing the pain but with God’s love, family’s, loved ones and friends’ support, and the prayers of all those beautiful souls, she was on remission at the age of six and carry on her healthy life ever since.  Her love for music helps her go through the painful journey.  She sang every time to ease and passed the pain and the very long wait of treatments.

She begun her vocal and piano classes at the age of 5 under Ms. Sharon Jusay and has been singing since then.  Being trained classically until the age of 11, Veenea ventured out to other genres such as musical theatre, Pop, Rhythm and Blues, Soul and others.

She performed at the Brunei Music Society’s Young Musician’s Concert on the 30th June 2007 and was the youngest of them all, but the moment she opened her cherry lips, the audience were instantly enthralled with her sweet but strong voice singing Giovanni Paisiello’s ‘Nel Cor Pi u’ Non Mi Sento’. (Quoted from Brunei Times by DEWI MOHD SOFRI, Sunday, July 1, 2007).  In the same year, she gave her debut Vocal Solo Recital on the 17th December entitled Veenea Nair – Pretty Flower, Songs from the Heart at the NeoClassic Music Hall, Brunei Darussalam which featured her singing in variety of styles – Classical, Broadway/Musicals, Folk and Contemporary.

Followed by various performances in Jerudong Amphitheatre, Brunei; Jerudong Park Polo Club, Brunei; Gadong Mall, Brunei; CitiSquare, Brunei; Ritz Carlton, Singapore, Blue Leaf, Mac Kinley, Philippines;
